Frenemies, a Bubbie and Closing the Labyrinth

“Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.”

- Robert Louis Stevenson

I'm thrilled to again be a part of Writers Pool of Playground-LA! This is the third reading I've had with this wonderful group since last year, each night is a fun evening of six new short plays written on selected topics in just 4 days and put up as enhanced staged readings four days later. This month's topic is "Reap What You Sow," my piece features two frenemeies connecting after a few decades and the two infamous birthdays that will tie them together forever.

Next up from Force of Nature Productions: Take 8 wild, zany, brand-spankin' new plays inspired by famous Holiday songs. Attach an All-Star studded cast and crew. Throw in random holiday themed props. Pepper in some fun musical numbers in between. Then center it all around the Ol' Christmas Tree. What do you get? The Biggest, Baddest and Craziest RUSH to date! My play Bubbie, It's Cold Outside is a sly family dramedy about conflict over holiday celebrations between a well-meaning parent and her adult daughter... who is also a contract killer.

After seven sold out weeks and 99 performances of our three plays,Wicked Lit 2017 closes this week! I could not be more proud of this tireless cast and crew, making magic in the mausoleum and cemetery through rain and cold and all manner of unplanned site-specific drama. Congratulations to the cast, crew, and creative teams of Liliom, Thoth's Labyrinth, The Damned Thing and The Open Door!

In related news, Wicked Lit 2016 recently received an Ovation Award Nomination for Best Sound Design (congrats to Noelle Hoffman and Drew Dalzell for their 4th straight nom) and special Ovation Honors for Puppet Design for Joe Seely!

Set among the decadent ruling class of pre-revolutionary France, this Olivier Award-winning play is a seductive and unsettling tale of sex and revenge in an all-too-recognizable world, where love is a blood sport played for glory and malice, and men have all – almost all – the power.
